I got the same name as you
-Lambert Stegeman
My name's not Lambert, it's Greg, silly! So... no you don't!
Greg: Last weekend at a fleamarket, I found a 1908 Antikammia Tablet
Advertising Calendar with a remarkable likeness of AEN. The color
picture of a smiling you man is captioned "It didn't hurt a bit."
Probably true since the aactive ingredient in these pills is codeine.
The picture is AEN except the missing tooth is on the left side. On
the back of this hardboard calendar, which is approxiatmely 7x10 inches
in size, is the calendar and advertising for this pill. The piece is
advertising for the Antikamnia Chemical Company, Headquartered in
London.with offices in St Louis USA.
The likeness to Alfred E Newan is incredible! Could this individual in
this ad have been the inspiration for the MAD hero?
Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
-Dan Joyce
It could be, but it's more likely a coincidence, since MAD didn't even start until 44 years later, and Alfred wasn't used for a few more years. However, a face like that does have quite a lasting impression! :)
Dear Greg,
I'm mailing you to ask if you know the E-mail to Mad Magazine. I'm
going through [the underworld!] trying to find it, so you're my second-to-last
resort. Help me! If I don't get it from you, I'm going to have to join
America Online. By the way, if you say that you don't know the address
without being nice to me, I must tell you that I have contacts with
E-mail bombs.
Thanks for reading this,
-Mat
Don't e-mail bomb me, but... I don't know it! :( If you really want to e-mail Mad directly , you do have to join AOL.
I grew up in the 60's and 70's reading MAD. My friend and pen-pal
former associate editor Jerry DeFuccio would send books, magazines, and
other neat MAD stuff every couple of months. I was often the "supposed"
writer of many "letters to the editor". He made me the celebrity of the
neighborhood. We wrote to each other for many years. Where can I find
him today.
-Jim Randleman
I don't know where you can find him now, but you're telling me some of those letters aren't real? My faith in mankind is gone! Maybe I should start doing that here... (just kidding, and I highly doubt that Mad does that anymore, I'm sure they get more than enough mail as it is!)
